My sister-in-law Hannah has been getting a bit of a room makeover lately… lucky her! I have had the opportunity to paint some furniture for her. The first piece I am going to share is the desk. It was just your typical cream and gold french provincialness.
Her room was painted a hot pink… now I know what you’re thinking… eww??? Hot pink?? But it actually looks terrific… you’ll just have to use your imagination, though, I photographed the desk in my own home before I brought it to her.
The shade I used was Onyx black by Glidden, but I had it tinted in Behr premium plus paint. The top was laminate, so first I primed it with a great primer called Gripper. Supposedly it’s super great stuff… and it did seem to work pretty great for me. As you can see in the pic below, it’s for hard to stick surfaces.
I sprayed the hardware with Rustoleum “Dark Steel” It’s in the same line as the oil-rubbed bronze that everyone loves.
And because the drawers were painted cream and pretty marked up, I went ahead and painted them pink!
I don’t always do that, but in this case, I think it was that wow factor that this desk needed! Right after I finished this desk, I called up my mother-in-law and told her that she and Hannah had a slight problem… Hannah wasn’t going to be getting her desk back! (Don’t worry… it’s now happily residing in Hannah’s room.)
And because she loves damask, this pretty wrapping paper is going in the drawers.
